Obituary for Benjamin "Ben" Murray

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33 NKJV)

Benjamin Murray was born to Willie Mae Brinkley Murray and Forrest Murray, Sr. of Mesena, GA on Saturday, August 13, 1955 in Thomson, GA. He has gained his heavenly wings. Benjamin peacefully transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

“Ben” as he was affectionately called, attended the public schools of Warren County, GA. He was an out-going person that enjoyed playing cards and listening to music. Ben worked as a landscape architect for most of his life. He was very skilled, and worked faithfully for his brother’s landscape business. Ben was also a very dedicated worker for E.V. Camp Steel Company for many years. Neither did Ben ever marry, nor did he have any biological children of his own. He did help raise many of his nieces and nephews. Our beloved Benjamin Murray will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Brinkley Murray; his father, Forrest Murray; one sister, Gladys M. Allen; four brothers, Forrest Murray, Jr., Larry Murray, Clarence Murray and Jessie Murray.

Those left to cherish a lifetime of beautiful memories: four sisters, Evelyn M. Grissom, Joyce A. (Charlie) Jones, all of Atlanta, GA, Lena D. (Eddie) Ivey and Barbara A. (Leon) Smith, all of Mesena, GA; three brothers, Cody B. (Gloria) Murray of Decatur, GA, Willie E. (Collette) Murray of College Park, GA and Valton Murray of Mesena, GA; five aunts, Lois Battle of Atlanta, GA, Minnie Brinkley of Decatur, GA, Gussie Griffin of Norwood, GA, Mary Williams and Mattie Brinkley, both of Warrenton, GA; two uncles, Moses Brinkley of Norwood, GA and Bobby (Evelyn) Brinkley of Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Edna Murray of Decatur, GA and Classie Murray of Mesena, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
